Responsibility is not a policy.
It is a posture.

Turtle has always believed that a garment is more than fabric and finish. It carried the choices made
before it reached you — about the land it came from, the hands that made it, and what happened
when you were done with it. These were not afterthoughts. They were part of what it meant to dress
with intention.

The Turtle
CONSERVATION · TSA & WSO PARTNERSHIPS

The turtle was not just a name. It was a reminder — of patience, of endurance, of the kind of unhurried
progress that outlasted everything else. Through partnerships with the Turtle Survival Alliance and the
Wildlife Society of Orissa, Turtle contributed to conservation efforts for the species that carried our
identity since 1993.

The Wildlife Society of Orissa worked for decades to protect Olive Ridley sea turtles along India's
Odisha coast — including the mass nesting beaches at Gahirmatha, Rushikulya, and Devi river mouth,
where hundreds of thousands of turtles arrived each year to nest. TSA's Conservation Needs
Assessment framework helped identify which freshwater and marine species faced the gravest risks,
and directed resources accordingly. Turtle's partnership supported field documentation, anti-poaching
efforts, and community education programmes in coastal villages — because the values built into
every garment deserved to outlast it.

I Dropped My Clothes
GARMENT TAKE-BACK · CIRCULARITY

A well-made garment deserved a second life. Through the take-back initiative at Turtle Exclusive
Brand Outlets, customers returned clothing they no longer wore — regardless of brand or condition.
What arrived was sorted, repaired where possible, redistributed to those who needed it, and recycled
where it could no longer be worn.

The name came from our customers. It stayed because it was honest. There was no ceremony in it —
just the simple act of returning something to where it could do more good.

Made in Prison
PRESIDENCY CORRECTIONAL HOME · LIVELIHOOD & CRAFT

Craft was not diminished by circumstance. In partnership with the Presidency Correctional Home in
Kolkata — one of India's oldest correctional facilities, established in the nineteenth century — Turtle
employed skilled tailors within the facility. Fair wages were paid. The same quality standards applied
across our manufacturing were maintained. A pathway back into the formal economy was created.

The garments produced carried no special label. They carried the same care as everything else we
made. That was the point. Dignity was not a programme. It was a standard.

Turtle Slow
ORGANIC FABRICS · ARTISAN COLLABORATION

Some things could not be hurried. The Slow Collection was built around that truth — using certified
organic cottons, natural-dyed linens, and handwoven textiles sourced directly from weaver
cooperatives across Bengal, Odisha, and beyond. Each piece moved at the pace of the hands that
made it.

The handmade was not romanticised. It was paid for properly, its provenance documented, the
artisan's livelihood protected — not as a story Turtle told at their expense, but as the condition on
which the collection existed. Slow was not a mood. It was a commitment to making things the right
way, even when the right way took longer.

We did not define who you were.
We created the conditions in which you might discover it.

That extended beyond the garment. It extended to the communities that made them possible, the
ecosystems that deserved protecting, and the belief that a brand trusted for thirty years carried a
responsibility that grew in proportion to that trust.

This was not a sustainability report. It was a direction of travel.
